Personal Reference (Spelling It Out)
This type of reference is a good way to gain more in depth information about the candidate; employment referencing may only state certain types of information such as employment dates and job title.
A personal reference can be used to cover any gaps between employments/study, career breaks or time travelling etc. Clients can ask specific questions as required and can decide on what length of time should be covered by this type of reference.
Ideally a professional/work email address is preferred over a personal email account.
